Counterfeit Bills Passed At Several Lincoln Businesses

Lincoln Police are looking for two suspects they say are responsible for passing counterfeit bills at several businesses.  Captain Max Hubka tells KLIN News Tuesday’s incidents occurred all across the city and happened between 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.

He says the two suspects are described as black males, 20 to 30 years old and both were wearing Covid-style masks. “It looks like most of the counterfeit bills were $20 bills and some $100 bills,” Hubka says.

“In total we probably have somewhere in the vicinity of eight to ten different businesses that were victims.” He says the suspects would come into each store and make small purchases with the bogus bucks and get a larger amount of change back in legitimate money.

He urges all businesses to closely check bills used for cash purchases.
