Dangerous heat is on the way for the Lincoln area. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for east central and southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa from 1:00 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. next Wednesday.
Heat index values up to 111 are expected during that time. The extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
