Lincoln Police say a knife-wielding man is behind bars after he threatened three people and stole a vehicle Thursday night. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says officers were initially called to Taco Bell at 45th and “O” Street around 8:40 p.m. by a 50-year-old woman who said she was in the drive-thru when a man armed with a knife demanded her vehicle.
“During her exit, the victim had the presence of mind to take the keys with her as she fled into the restaurant for help,” Vollmer says. “The
male realized he could not operate the vehicle without the key and left on foot.”
About five minutes later officers were called to Yogurtini just north of 48th and “O” by two teenagers. Vollmer says the 17-year-old driver and passenger told officers a man armed with a knife opened the drivers door and demanded the car. They complied and the man drove away.
“The male victim utilized an Apple AirTag within the vehicle to notify police of its travels. Police contacted the stolen vehicle near 34th & Starr.” 30- year-old Kyle M Christen was taken into custody. A kitchen knife was found in the driver’s door of the stolen vehicle.
Christen was booked for robbery, attempted robbery and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony.
