A deputy with the Seward County Sheriff’s Office Interdiction Task Force tried to perform a traffic stop on a Chevy Tahoe for numerous traffic violations on Saturday, March 4.
The vehicle failed to comply and took off westbound on I-80 at a high rate of speed. The Nebraska State Patrol and the York County Sheriff’s Office were notified and assisted with the pursuit.
Spike strips were deployed near mile marker 327 and three of the tires were deflated. The Tahoe pulled to the shoulder. A Canadian citizen was taken into custody without further incident.
A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun in the center console and approximately 6.5 pounds of Ecstasy. The driver was booked in the Seward County Jail pending further court action.
