A man who refused to move out of a family member’s home was arrested after a nearly three hour standoff with Lincoln Police on Monday afternoon near 36th and Van Dorn.
Sergeant Chris Vollmer says 36 year old Steven Shiffermiller made several calls to the 911 center around 11:30 a.m. threatening to harm family members and law enforcement. He says the threats involved the use of weapons and explosives.
“Due to the high risk, the Lincoln Police Department SWAT Team responded. Officers attempted to contact Shiffermiller, however he barricaded himself inside the residence and made threats to harm officers if they attempted to enter.”
Officers used an armored rescue vehicle to knock down the front door and shield themselves. Shiffermiller exited the home about three hours later and was taken into custody. No weapons or explosives were found.
He was arrested for terroristic threats and an active arrest warrant.
