Investigators say a Saturday morning fire at an apartment building under construction caused $300,000 damage. LFR Captain Nancy Crist says the fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. near 91st and Pine Lake Road.
“We got there and did find fire in a lower unit and it had an opportunity to spread to the second floor into the roof.” Crews were on the scene of the two alarm fire for about five hours.
Crist says a malfunctioning heater sparked the fire. There was $250,000 damage to the building and $50,000 to contents.
