A 24-year-old Papillion man is dead following a crash on Highway 77 in Lincoln. John Free, 24, was northbound on the highway when he lost control of his car. LSO Chief Deputy Sheriff Ben Houchin says the car slid through the intersection at Agnew Rd and into the median where the vehicle rolled several times. Free was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from his car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Speed, the slickness on the bridge, and him not wearing a seatbelt appear initially to be the major factors in the crash and his death,” said Houchin.
Northbound 77 was closed for about three hours, but it is open now.
