The Capital Humane Society will be looking to “Clear The Shelter” during a nationwide pet adoption drive on Saturday. “The purpose of the event is to educate people on pet adoption and basically try to get as many pets adopted as possible on that single day,” says executive director Matt Madcharo.
He says from noon until 5:00 p.m. adoption fees on all animals, including dogs, cats and critters will be reduced 50 percent for one day only at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center near 70th and Highway 2. License and rabies fees may apply.
Madcharo says the Capital Humane Society participated in this one day event prior to the pandemic. In 2017 they had 60 adoptions, in 2018 there were 41 pets adopted and in 2019 they saw 48 animals adopted to new homes.
Madcharo says they are looking forward to setting a new adoption record on Saturday. He says anyone interested in adopting should bring a photo ID along with all family members so they can meet a potential new pet.
