Senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee U.S. Senator Deb Fischer welcomed the news that Air Force Chief of Staff Charles Q Brown has requested funding to complete the rebuilding of Offutt Air Force Base.
Fischer stated, “It is critical for our country, our state, and our men and women in uniform that the facilities at Offutt destroyed by extreme flooding in 2019 are rebuilt. The Air Force Chief of Staff’s announcement of this project as a priority for Fiscal Year 2023 is a very positive step. I remain fully committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to secure this needed funding for the base.”
The U.S. Air Force Unfunded Priority List for Fiscal Year 2023 includes $286 million for the Natural Disaster Recovery Fund. A majority of the amount would go towards the project to rebuild Offutt.
