Many posts have been made by celebrities since word came out early yesterday that comedian Norm MacDonald passed away. I think my favorite that I’ve seen would have to be from Jim Carrey. He posted a clip from when he was filming Man on the Moon about the late, great Andy Kaufman. Norm had come to visit him on set, which was filmed on the same lot that housed the original set of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, and so…
During the filming of ‘Man On The Moon’, Norm MacDonald came to join me as Andy Kauffman for a lunch on the real porch of the ‘Psycho’ house at Universal and was scare pranked by another famous Norman…
Long live Norm MacDonald! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/uhFwPVrsQA— Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) September 15, 2021
Several things about this. Jim Carrey is a method actor. There is a documentary on Netflix about the filming of Man on the Moon and how Jim felt that he was really Andy Kaufman while filming. He ticked off a lot of people and confused a lot of people involved in the filming of the movie insisting that he was Andy. In the documentary a lot of the people who knew Andy couldn’t believe how much talking to Jim was like talking to Andy. He was Andy. So when he runs out of Norman Bates’s house it’s Jim dressed as Andy dressed as Norman who is dressed as his mother. I love it. I’ve always loved Jim Carrey and I am a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock films, and watching Norm MacDonald scream and back away is great!
