The Nebraska Secretary of State has certified two new political parties following a ruling Thursday by the Nebraska Supreme Court. Secretary of State Bob Evnen issued certifications for the Nebraska Working People Party and the America First Party, allowing Nebraska voters to begin registering with either party immediately.
The newly updated voter registration form is available through the Secretary of State’s office, and voters can also register at their local election office or online. Both parties may nominate candidates for the November 3rd general election.
Candidates must be nominated by a state convention, submit a petition signed by 25 registered voters from the party, complete a filing form and pay the applicable filing fee. All materials must be submitted to the appropriate filing officer by 5:00 p.m. September 1st.
The official ballot order will be Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, Legal Marijuana NOW, Nebraska Working People, and America First.
