Hundreds of motorcycle riders will hit the road in Lincoln Sunday as the American Legion Riders begin their 20th annual Legacy Run. About 250 to 300 motorcycles are expected to take part in the five-day charity ride from Lincoln to Fort Knox, Kentucky.
The ride is part of The American Legion’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. Riders will collect donations along the route for The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation. The foundation supports disabled veterans, military families and the work of American Legion service officers.
Sunday’s ride begins in Lincoln and includes stops at Tower’s Frontier Harley-Davidson and the Strategic Air Command Museum in Ashland before riders continue to Ames, Iowa. The group will travel through Iowa, Illinois and Missouri before arriving at Fort Knox on Thursday. The final stop is the General George Patton Museum of Leadership.
