The Lancaster County Election Commission has mailed early voting application forms to approximately 62,000 voters on the county’s Permanent Early Vote Request list ahead of the November General Election.
Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen says voters should begin receiving the green, postcard-sized applications in their mailboxes over the next few days. Those who don’t receive one can print an application from the Election Commission’s website. Wiltgen says the form must be printed and signed by hand, as electronic signatures are not accepted.
Voters may also request an application by calling the Election Commission at (402) 441-7311 or by clicking here . A signed letter containing the required voter information may also be submitted to request a ballot by mail.
Nebraska’s voter identification law requires voters to include either their Nebraska driver’s license or state ID number, a photocopy of another valid photo ID, or a completed reasonable impediment certification with their request.
Completed applications can be returned by mail, dropped off at the Election Commission office or designated library drop boxes, or emailed as a scanned copy or clear photo. Early vote ballots for the General Election will begin mailing on Monday, September 28.
Wiltgen is reminding voters who will be away from home in October to have their ballots sent to the address where they will be staying. The U.S. Postal Service will not forward or hold election ballots, and undeliverable ballots will be returned to the Election Commission.
