Lincoln Police responded to a vehicle stopped in the road on the Highway 77 northbound exit onto West O Street around 2:00 Wednesday morning. “Officers found the driver, 21-year-old Jayce Brown of Beatrice, unconscious in his pickup truck,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.
“Officers tried multiple times to wake him before calling medical to assist,” Thomas says. “As they tried to wake him up, Brown took his foot off the brakes and hit the responding LFR ambulance head-on, causing $5,000 in damage.”
She says crews had to break a window to remove Brown from the truck safely. “Officers found two open beer cans and an open case in the truck.” Thomas says a breath sample determined Brown’s BAC was 0.179. He was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail for DUI first offense, careless driving, and no proof of registration.
