Nebraska Task Force 1 has relocated to Live Oak County, Texas and is conducting preparedness operations across the Nueces River Basin as forecasters warn of potential high water.

Since arriving Tuesday, members of the urban search and rescue task force have coordinated with local officials, emergency managers, fire departments and law enforcement agencies while surveying the region to identify potential hazards and verify access routes for emergency vehicles and rescue boats.

The task force has finalized a response plan based on local river conditions, allowing swiftwater and boat rescue teams to deploy quickly if flooding develops. Officials said a rapid response crew will remain on standby around the clock, ready to respond if conditions deteriorate.

The deployment is part of ongoing efforts to position specialized rescue resources in areas that could be affected by rising water as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
