Community members will have a chance next week to help shape the future of transportation and development in Lincoln and Lancaster County. Local leaders will host an open house Tuesday, May 19 for the “Plan Forward” initiative, a long-term effort focused on how the community will grow and move through the year 2050.
Residents can review proposed improvements to roadways, bike lanes, sidewalks, trails, and pedestrian networks, and provide feedback directly to city and county planners. Representatives from Lincoln Transportation and Utilities will also share project updates.
The initiative includes updates to the region’s Long Range Transportation Plan, a new Lincoln Mobility Plan, and revisions to the city and county’s 2050 Comprehensive Plan. Officials say the plans are designed to prepare for an estimated 100,000 new residents over the next twenty-five years, with most growth expected inside the city of Lincoln.
The free event runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Commercial Club near 11th and Q. Free parking will be available at the Que Place Garage on Q Street. A virtual open house is also available now through June seventh. Click here to access it.
