City Issues Reminder About Yard Sign Regulations

By Tom Stanton Apr 13, 2026 | 3:26 PM

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities is reminding citizens and businesses about the placement of yard signs.  LTU says in order to maintain safe and accessible streets and sidewalks, temporary signs, including political, campaign, and other promotional signs, are permitted on private property only.

LTU says it is against the law to place signs in the city right-of-way, the space between curbs and sidewalks, including sidewalks, medians, street corners, or parkways.  City crews will remove any signs placed in the right-of-way.

Residents and organizations should review local regulations before placing signs to ensure compliance with Lincoln Municipal Code. Violating these regulations may result in fines.
