No one was hurt when fire broke out at a home near SW 9th and W. Rose Street around 2:00 this morning. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says a neighbor letting their dogs out spotted a small fire on the roof of the porch.
“The fire was actually in the walls and was actually pretty hard to see,” Lierman says. “It was burning for awhile in the wall between the two floors. It did go into the roof a little but did not get into the attic.”
Lierman says the home will need some repairs and the two residents and their dog were relocated by the Red Cross. Damage is estimated at $30,000 to the house and $5,000 to the contents.
