Lincoln city leaders joined Lincoln Airport officials in cutting the ribbon Wednesday morning marking Breeze Airways’ new non-stop service to Orlando. The first flight departed LNK around 1:30. The service will be available on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s.
Lincoln Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Jason Ball says credits the Airport Authority for finding a partnership with the fastest growing air service in the country. “And now we’ve added, not one, but three new destinations with this first Breeze service to Orlando, Las Vegas and Orange County, California.” Ball says.
As passengers arrived for the first flight, they got to take pictures with Mickey Mouse. Joe Eisenberg was one of the first passengers and told KLIN News before he boarded that he’s happy with the service and it’s more convenient that flying out of Omaha. “I think this is going to be a much better type of carrier for Lincoln and I can see nothing but growth.,” Eisenberg says. “I think people will flock to this type of service.”
Lincoln Airport Authority Board member Chris Hove says it’s important that the community grab onto this and really use it. If they do, Hove says these new destinations could lead to other future stops being added.
