StarTran Seeks Community Input on Proposed Route Change

By Tom Stanton Apr 10, 2025 | 3:42 PM

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities wants residents to review and comment on proposed changes to StarTran Route 46-Arnold Heights. The proposal would shift service from some residential streets in Arnold Heights and redirect them to the Air Park area where increased service needs have been identified.

Community members can provide input regarding the route change by contacting StarTran at 402-476-1234, startraninfo@lincoln.ne.gov or by visiting the StarTran office at 710 “J” Street. The deadline to submit comments is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23.

All input will be presented at the StarTran Advisory Board meeting scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Thursday, April 24. The meeting includes a public comment session, scheduled near the end of the meeting.

Carla Cosier, Assistant Director of Transit, says over the last 10 years there have been numerous developments in the Air Park area, including the addition of large, industrial employers. The proposed routing changes are designed to expand access to primary ridership destinations.

“To continue increasing bus access to more riders in these growing developments, StarTran will utilize existing transit infrastructure along Route 46 to help align with StarTran’s efforts to develop bus routes along arterial streets,” Cosier says.

As a part of the proposed changes, StarTran plans to continue travel on Northwest 50th Street to ensure adequate service is provided to areas with limited pedestrian access to arterial bus routes. All other neighborhood bus travel in the Arnold Heights neighborhood would be discontinued.
