Southeast Community College showed off it’s new Sandhills Global Technology Center near 88th and ‘O’ Street during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday. SCC ‘s state-of-the-art technology training center represents one of many transformations taking place at SCC to position it as the leader in the training and development of a skilled workforce.
The $37 million project is a collaboration between SCC, Sandhills Global and the city of Lincoln. “This partnership will be a game-changer for the tech industry in Nebraska,” say Dr. Paul Illich, president of SCC. “The Sandhills Global Technology Center will allow us to invest in the future by training and developing the skilled workforce our region needs to prosper.”
The facility was developed with input from industry partners, faculty insights and student needs. The Sandhills Global Technology Center is 65,000 square feet and will house programs in Biotechnology, Computer Information Technology, Design & Drafting and Electronic Systems.
In addition, the facility has 5,000 square feet dedicated to industry partner space. Students will start taking classes in the building on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
