Michon Morrow is no longer the Acting Lincoln Police Chief.   The city council voted 7-0 on Monday to approve Morrow as the permanent Chief of Police  Morrow’s first official day as police chief will be Tuesday.

“I am extremely humbled and grateful for this opportunity,” Morrow told council members.  Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird recently nominated Morrow to replace Teresa Ewins, who abruptly resigned last July.

“As acting chief of the last eight months, Michon affirmed that she is a wise, compassionate, collaborative, resolute and strong leader, who is skilled at building the relationships that are at the heart of community policing and a thriving police department,” Gaylor Baird says.

“Going forward, I’m confident she will continue to lead the department with the same excellence that has defined her nearly 29 years at LPD.”    Morrow recently listed four priority pillars going forward, recruitment, retention, resiliency and respect.
