Several members of the the Lancaster County Fugitive Task Force were injured after struggling with a wanted man near 3rd and B Streets Wednesday afternoon. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says they responded to a felony burglary call around 3 p.m. and encountered 44-year-old Jarrad King.
He says officers had a difficult time taking King into custody. “He is 6 foot 3 and 270 pounds. Very big and he didn’t want to go.” Houchin says King pulled away from a task force officer and tried to walk away.
“Several task force officers grabbed him and took him to the ground,” Houchin says. ” He tucked his arms underneath him and started thrashing around.” Officers used a Taser twice to subdue King.
During the scuffle, two task force officers from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, one from the Nebraska State Patrol and one from the U.S. Marshals Service suffered scrapes and bruises to their arms, legs and head.
Houchin says during a search of King’s vehicle they found three grams of meth and steroids. He was booked on four counts of third-degree assault on an officer, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and burglary.
