The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nebraska announced an election enforcement plan Tuesday focused on protecting voting rights and investigating suspected election fraud during early voting and the November 3 general election.
The office is coordinating with the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and federal law enforcement partners. Officials say their priorities include ensuring eligible voters can cast ballots without discrimination, harassment, intimidation or unlawful coercion.
The plan also includes monitoring compliance with federal voter registration and eligibility laws and investigating actionable allegations of voter impersonation, unlawful ballot harvesting and intentional disruption of polling places or mail-in ballot processing. The announcement did not identify any specific Nebraska incident or investigation.
Federal oversight will continue throughout early voting, including monitoring compliance with the Voting Rights Act and protecting access to ballot drop boxes and polling locations.
Anyone who witnesses or has direct knowledge of suspected election fraud, voter intimidation or unlawful voting activity is encouraged to report it. Tips about potential fraud or voting irregularities can be submitted through the FBI’s online tips portal or reported to local law enforcement.
Complaints involving voter discrimination or other civil rights violations can be submitted through the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Reporting Portal.
