Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has reissued an executive order extending relief for commercial drivers transporting hay and other essential agricultural supplies to areas impacted by recent wildfires and ongoing drought conditions.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has granted an additional 30-day waiver of federal Hours of Service requirements for commercial drivers assisting with agricultural relief efforts. Under Pillen’s executive order, standard Hours of Service regulations are waived for drivers delivering hay and necessary supplies to affected agricultural producers.
The order also waives over-dimension and overweight restrictions for commercial motor vehicles involved in those deliveries. State officials say the relief is needed because wildfires and persistent drought have severely affected Nebraska’s livestock feed supply. The executive order will remain in effect through September 11.
