Nebraska will honor dozens of Korean War veterans during a special recognition ceremony Friday in Lincoln. Gov. Jim Pillen, Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director John Hilgert and Republic of Korea Consul General in Chicago Sangwoo Hong will present state-issued Korean War Veteran Recognition Coins to veterans and their families at Memorial Stadium.
State officials say 88 Korean War veterans are expected to attend. The ceremony is part of an initiative launched earlier this year by Pillen and the Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs to recognize Nebraska’s living Korean War veterans for their service and sacrifice.
The event begins at 1 p.m. Friday in the East Stadium Level 4 Club Lounge at Memorial Stadium.
