The National High School Finals Rodeo is bringing more than rodeo action to Lincoln this weekend. Organizers say country music star and patriotic singer Lee Greenwood will make a special appearance during the rodeo’s opening performance on Sunday, July 19th, at the Sandhills Global Event Center.
Marketing Manager Gina Nathan says Greenwood will sing three songs. The event is expected to draw about 100,000 visitors to Lincoln and Nebraska, making it the largest event ever held at the Sandhills Global Event Center. More than 1,800 high school rodeo athletes and their families are expected to attend, along with more than 2,500 horses and livestock.
The opening night celebration will also feature a drone show commemorating America’s 250th birthday before Greenwood’s appearance. The weeklong event includes twice-daily rodeo performances, a large trade show, practice sessions and jackpot rounds.
Nathan says the economic impact should exceed the more than $17 million generated during the rodeo’s previous visit to Lincoln in 2021. Discounted all-session wristbands are available through July 15th, with individual performance tickets available at the event.
