Lincoln Fiire and Rescue crews got some assistance from an 11-year-old boy when fire broke out at a home near 9th and Irving Monday afternoon. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the boy who mows the lawn noticed the house on fire around 3:30.
Lierman says the boy called 911, notified the elderly residents, and helped get them out of the house. She says the fire started in the garage and got partially into the attic space. LFR says there is heavy smoke damage to the house. “Firefighters went in for two dogs and a cat and all pets were safely removed and appeared to be fine.”
The cause of the fire is still not known.
