Lincoln drivers should plan for several traffic impacts beginning Tuesday as construction projects get underway across the city. LTU says 48th Street will be closed between South and Sumner streets for a water main replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use Normal Boulevard and 56th Street as a detour. The work is expected to continue through the summer.
Also starting Tuesday, a westbound lane on South Street will be closed from 49th Street to Cotner Boulevard for another water main replacement. Motorists are advised to detour using 56th Street and Normal Boulevard. That project is also scheduled to be completed later this summer.
Meanwhile, northbound lane closures will begin on 84th Street between Van Dorn and South streets due to private construction. Left turns will be prohibited for both northbound and southbound traffic at the 84th and Van Dorn intersection. Northbound traffic will be shifted into the southbound lanes during construction.
The 84th Street project is expected to remain in place until July 31. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution in all work zones.
