Lincoln Police have identified the man who was killed in one vehicle crash last Friday morning near 1st and Van Dorn. Investigators say 56-year-old Matthew Williamson of Lincoln was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed just after 7:00 near Speedway Circle and Park Boulevard.

According to an LPD accident report Williamson was northbound on 1st Street at Park Boulevard when the driver continued driving strait instead of curving to the left with the roadway.  The report said the SUV struck a light pole, a river marking sign and a concrete barricade before colliding with the north side of the bridge and rail.

Police say the impact of the crash pushed the barricade nearly 17 feet across the west side of the bridge.  The SUV flipped over the bridge rail and landed on the Salt Creek embankment. Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene.
