The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department is opening its doors to the public this Friday following a major renovation project. Residents are invited to a free open house from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Health Department building at 31st and “O” Streets.
Visitors will be able to tour the newly renovated facility, learn more about public health programs and services, and enjoy refreshments. The renovation project lasted about two-and-a-half years and included upgrades to clinic exam rooms, waiting areas, employee work spaces, and meeting rooms.
The department also updated technology throughout the building and replaced HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Health Director Kerry Kernen says the improvements were designed to better serve clients and provide more efficient work areas for staff.
The Health Department provides a wide range of services, including immunizations, dental care, food and water safety programs, pet protection, and emergency preparedness. Parking for Friday’s open house will be available on the east and south sides of the building.
