Tornado Watch Issued For Lancaster County

By Tom Stanton Apr 23, 2026 | 12:19 PM

The National Weather Service had issued a Tornado Watch for portions of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, including Lancaster County.  The watch is in effect until 7:00 tonight and forecasters say winds up to 70 miles per hour, hail the size of tennis balls and a few tornadoes are possible.

With the potential for severe weather, Lancaster County Emergency Management Director Jim Davidsaver tells KLIN News make sure you have identified your best shelter options at home, work and school.

“Your family plan should include a location where all family members will report.” He says make sure you have an emergency kit that can sustain you and your family for up to three days.  That kit includes food, bottled water, flashlight or lantern and a way to stay informed.  Make sure you have extra batteries as well.
