Much of eastern Nebraska, including Lancaster County, can expect strong winds Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Michaela Wood says northwest winds will start to shift and increase in speed by dusk, with gusts up to 45-50 mph between midnight and 6 a.m. in Lincoln.
Areas to the northeast could see gusts up to 60 mph.
“It’s certainly going to be a night to keep an eye on any loose outdoor items, especially any holiday decorations you have outside. It’s a good night to bring those inside, as they could blow away,” Wood said.
She also warned of the possibility for sporadic power outages overnight. Travel may become difficult for high profile vehicles also.
“On the bright side, after 6 a.m. Wednesday, things will gradually calm down,” she added.
