By Chase Porter Mar 31, 2025 | 6:02 AM

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) invites residents to an open house for upcoming street improvements for the 40th Street Project this Tuesday, April 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Randolph Elementary School (1024 South 37th St.).

The Lincoln on the Move quarter-cent sales tax street improvement project will invest in improvements to 40th Street from “A” Street to just south of “O” Street. These improvements include a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt surface and repairs to the base layer where necessary. The project also proposes widening 40th Street from “C” to “L” streets.

Additional work funded through other sources includes upgrading the existing sidewalk ramps to meet federal and local standards.

This work will be coordinated with a water main replacement project, which will take place prior to the street resurfacing. The reconstruction of the intersection of 40th and Randolph streets is included in a separate project.

Construction is expected to begin in summer 2025 and be completed in 2026.
