It has been a busy Thursday for Lincoln Police officers. They responded to 14 crashes across the city as of noon, with most of them happening this morning. Wednesday’s blizzard produced a lot of heavy, wet snow that covered many stop lights, making it difficult to see.
LPD says traffic lights on the south and east side of intersections are packed with snow and may be difficult to see. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas urges drivers to slow down when approaching intersections and treat them as four-way stops.
Police responded to 23 accidents during the blizzard. Although snow and ice are beginning to melt, police warned that shaded areas may thaw and refreeze, creating additional hazards.
