Lincoln Police cited 17 people for driving under the influence during the National “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” traffic safety effort.  The enforcement campaign was conducted on weekend nights from August 16 to September 1.

LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says 13 of those DUI citations were for alcohol and the other four were for drug use.  “This project was funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office and allowed for more officers to enforce impaired driving and other traffic safety laws outside their normal shift.”

249 traffic stops were conducted and a total of 156 citations were issued.  In addition to the 17 DUI’s, officers wrote 23 seeding citations, 40 for no registration and 10 for no insurance.
