Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews arrived to find smoke coming from a house near 68th and Orchard around 10:30 Tuesday night. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the fire was found in the wall that came from a wood burning stove in the basement.
She says crews found the fire in the wall on all three levels of the home. “They had replaced the chimney flue from the basement through the whole chimney.” She says they think what happened was a failure in the flue and it just went up the whole wall.
Lierman says damage is estimated at $150,000. Due to the damage the family had to be relocated.
