Tired of Roundabouts? You aren’t Alone, but They aren’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon

By Steve King Oct 10, 2023 | 8:43 AM

These goddamn things keep popping up all over the place. You can’t drive down Yankee Hill without hitting at least 8 of them between 40th and 84th.  The county has even shut down Saltillo Rd. to building one between 27th and 40th…and you know there are more to comes.

Some people love them. Personally, I think they look stupid and European (not that Europeans are stupid, they just get the roundabout concept), but I like that I can run through them quickly when there are few (or no) cars. But there are the dumb fucks who have no clue what to do. You know the ones who Yield while IN the roundabout so cars can enter. Or in the case of Kentucky’s first roundabout, when they COMPLETELY missed the directions:

I did learn in the video below that this is instigated, not just by your local municipality, but also the insurance companies. Now before you lose your shit over this, I can’t hate it. These annoyances have been proven to cut down on traffic jams (which saves gas…and with the price of gas, I’m not complaining), it also reduces the number of accidents by almost 40%…and you know what that means…supposedly, lower insurance rates.

Rest assured, we aren’t the only ones who are experiencing the pain of roundabouts, St. Louis is getting them too.

Maybe I should re-think my ire for them, but it won’t stop my complaining about them.

Get off my lawn!
