A Lancaster County Deputy was cited, and damage to a police cruiser was estimated at $20 thousand, following an officer involved crash northwest of Lincoln.

Tuesday morning around 11 a.m., Deputy Chris Chance was traveling eastbound on West Raymond Road and attempted to turn on NW 42nd Street.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said  Deputy Chance didn’t see a westbound Jeep driven by 20-year-old Rylie McDermott as he was turning into the Raymond Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

“There was approximately $20,000 of damage to the cruiser and Riley’s Jeep was totaled. Riley was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Deputy Chance was taken to the emergency room with a wrist injury.”

Deputy Chance was cited for failure to yield and not wearing a seatbelt. He was not responding to a call at the time of the incident.
