LFR Crews responded to a detached garage fire near 12th and Adams late Sunday afternoon. “Crews reported seeing a black column of smoke from Vine Street as they were approaching Adams Street,” says LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman.
“On arrival LFR found one fully involved garage with a car on fire in it and a second garage also on fire.” She says flames were also approaching a house. “One crew rapidly applied water to the main garage with the car, as a second crew used another attack line and extinguished the second garage fire while also protecting the house using water as a cooling barrier to the exposure.”
Lierman says the first garage at 1209 Adams was completely destroyed along with the car. The second garage at 1225 Adams was heavily damaged and the siding of the house had a large amount of damage due to the heat.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire is not yet known. Damage is estimated at $150,000.
