Police Officer’s Bodycam Shows Him Being Sucked Into a Sewer

Take it from someone who was caught in a Flash Flood, on Cornhusker a couple of years ago. They can come up on you and you have no idea it is coming. Thankfully, I had a 4-wheel drive and jumped the curb to safety.

The point is in Lincoln, we get warnings quite often of Flash Flooding is possible. Most of the time, the AM radio station tells you first. The alerts tell us to not drive into low lying areas and to stay away from rising water. The reason, you have no idea how fast that water will rise…and it comes in surprisingly fast…and the undertow can be as strong as anything you would get in the ocean.

These warnings happen quite often in Florida…and it isn’t always during hurricanes. The video below is of a police officer doing his job and trying to rescue people in cars that were trapped by rising water. This is proof that police officers are brave and are trained for many different dangerous situations…this is not one he would have ever expected to happen.

Deputy Williams William Hollingsworth in Escambia, FL was doing his job only to be swept away by the very dangerous situation he was trying to help others avoid. Unfortunately, he wasn’t ready for the water that overtook him and sent down a sewer drain.

The whole thing was caught on video:

The officer was warned on his radio to get out of the water, but he wanted to do his job and save people. This is proof positive that you MUST heed the warnings or you could lose your life. This officer was lucky. The rest of us may not be.
