The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has cited a 27 year old motorcyclist who they say has been popping wheelies on 9th Street in front of the Hall of Justice for the past month and a half.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says it was happening every afternoon and the rider would pop wheelies for nearly two blocks, posing a danger to him and other drivers.
“On May 15 Sergeant Scott Gaston set up and he saw and heard this individual coming on his motorcycle and again he does a wheelie for about two blocks with traffic all around him.”
Houchin says Sergeant Gaston was able to get in behind the motorcycle and follow it to 10th and D Streets where it parked. He says the man, identified as 27 year old Tyler Yates, saw the cruiser and took off.
Houchin says they were able to track down Yates, who was already in jail on warrants. Houchin says after speaking to Yates he was cited for driving under suspension, no motorcycle endorsement on his license, reckless driving second offense, no insurance and no valid registration.
