Doesn’t it piss you off when you you crack open a can of beer and try to be all kinds of classy and pour it into a glass (or try to be Rednecky and use the good ol’ Red Solo Cup)? You end up pouring it, the foam starts stacking up.
Don’t get me wrong, foam on a beer is essential. But when you end up with too much foam, you are left with 2 choices:
- Wait for the foam to subside
- Pour out the foam
The result:
- Flat beer (and yes, a dash of salt sucks because it changes the taste of the beer and makes the beer flatter when the artificial foam disappears.)
- Wasted beer
Both are a bad result.
Well, fear not! A Japanese company has created a new way to diminish excessive beer foam when you pour it from a can…2 pull tabs.
Not that I am some kind of Mr Wizard or Bill Nye “The Science Guy”, what they did makes a lot of sense.
- The tabs are labeled “1” and “2”
- Pull tab “1”, which only opens the lid 45 degrees and pour the beer half way until the foam starts, then…
- Pull tab “2” and pour the rest of the beer and voila! No loss of beer or foamy head.
Because I am stupid and probably didn’t explain it well enough, someone smarter than I made a video that explains it better.
Now, I will point out that this can also be achieved when you pour your beer into your favorite beverage receptacle at a 45 degree angle…but what do I know. I am no scientist, just a beer drinker who knows what he likes.
