Isn’t It Time for the Perfect Beer Pour Without Too Much Foam?

Doesn’t it piss you off when you you crack open a can of beer and try to be all kinds of classy and pour it into a glass (or try to be Rednecky and use the good ol’ Red Solo Cup)? You end up pouring it, the foam starts stacking up.

Don’t get me wrong, foam on a beer is essential. But when you end up with too much foam, you are left with 2 choices:

  1. Wait for the foam to subside
  2. Pour out the foam

The result:

  1. Flat beer (and yes, a dash of salt sucks because it changes the taste of the beer and makes the beer flatter when the artificial foam disappears.)
  2. Wasted beer

Both are a bad result.

Well, fear not! A Japanese company has created a new way to diminish excessive beer foam when you pour it from a can…2 pull tabs.

Not that I am some kind of Mr Wizard or Bill Nye “The Science Guy”, what they did makes a lot of sense.

  1. The tabs are labeled “1” and “2”
  2. Pull tab “1”, which only opens the lid 45 degrees and pour the beer half way until the foam starts, then…
  3. Pull tab “2” and pour the rest of the beer and voila! No loss of beer or foamy head.

Because I am stupid and probably didn’t explain it well enough, someone smarter than I made a video that explains it better.

Now, I will point out that this can also be achieved when you pour your beer into your favorite beverage receptacle at a 45 degree angle…but what do I know. I am no scientist, just a beer drinker who knows what he likes.
