Former Husker football player Cole Pensick was killed Saturday morning in a crash in Polk County. Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig says they responded to the crash around 6:40 a.m. at 141st Road and Q Road.
Ladwig says Pensick was westbound in his Chevy Silverado when he failed to stop at a stop sign, went off the road and came to rest in some trees. The sheriff’s department says Pensick was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
The Nebraska State Patrol, Columbus Fire and Rescue and Duncan Fire and rescue assisted with the crash. Pensick graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School.
In 2013 he was named to the All-Big Ten second team.
