When it comes to supporting our kids when they are in various sporting events, some parents sit back and watch, some parents yell words of encouragement, then there are those parents who look like complete assholes…
But those are the rarities. I was lucky to have family who supported me…my Grandfather, playfully, used to shout from the stands when I was playing basketball “Put that King kid in!”. Of course he was nice because I was a bench-warmer.
Then you have other parents who are so excited about their kid’s performance that they do everything in their power to stay in control of their excitement. This mom, in particular, did everything right. She was excited, she also held onto her husband, so she wouldn’t get her son in trouble.
Keep in mind, she was supporting her son. Take a look at what good parenting and support looks like:
