By Tom Stanton Dec 28, 2022 | 10:11 AM

Lincoln Police continue sort out the details following the City’s latest homicide.  It happened last Friday morning near South 20th and Washington Street.  Captain Todd Kocian says they have determined there was a traffic crash involving 23 year old Karsen Rezac and 38 year old Kupo Mleya.

“Following the traffic crash, Rezac fired several rounds from inside his vehicle striking Mleya, who was inside his vehicle,” Kocian says.  Mleya died at the scene.  Rezac was developed as a suspect and police found his vehicle later that same morning parked and unoccupied near South 20th and Euclid Street.

“The vehicle had damage consistent with a vehicle crash and damage to the rear passenger window consistent with gunfire,” Kocian says.   “A search warrant was conducted on the vehicle at which time investigators located a 9mm handgun and several spent shell casings.”

Police say they don’t know the circumstances leading up to the initial crash and there is no known relationship between the men. The investigation is ongoing and LPD is asking anyone with information to call 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
