I have no idea why I am upset by this, but I am. It has come to my attention via KLIN (which is a shameless plug for a sister station, but it is where I heard this), that after all these years of not giving two sits as to where Barilla pasta was made, I have learned that “Italy’s No. 1 brand of pasta,” is made in Iowa.
Now, I have to admit that my lack of knowledge, or caring, about this pasta, beyond it’s price-point only had made me slightly upset when I would see the price go up a few pennies. But today, I learned that Barilla is being sues because of their claim to be “Italy’s No. 1 brand of pasta,” which according to a lawsuit, could be misleading to the general public as where it’s made.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I had no clue that Barilla pasta was “Italy’s No. 1 brand of pasta”, nor did many of us care. Based on that, this is a stupid lawsuit. But someone, had a lot of time on their hands during the pandemic.
This isn’t the only food lawsuit, Texas Pete’s hot sauce is being sued for not being made in Texas.
Again, normally, I wouldn’t be upset by crap like this. But in this case, the only reason I am pissed is that this stuff is made in Iowa.
That’s it, it is made in Iowa. Regardless of this, I will still buy it if it is the cheapest stuff. but why Iowa of all places?
