An 85 year old Lincoln man was the victim of a scam that led to the loss of thousands of dollars. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the man called police around 5:30 Monday evening about the computer scam.
The victim reported difficulty connecting a new printer to his computer, so he searched the model in Google and found a link for assistance. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the link directed him to a phone number and the victim provided permission for the unknown person to access his computer remotely.
The victim was later notified of multiple withdrawals from his checking account totaling $25,000.
