What the fuck is wrong with people?
Kids selling lemonade is like a right of passage. It is a great way to teach a child the importance running a business, pricing to the market place and customer service. It is a learning experience. It is also cute as hell.
Every so often you hear about some prick turning in a kid for having a lemonade stand…and here we go again.
In Ohio, a Rib Festival had a little girl’s lemonade stand shut down because it was too close to their gathering. I am not sure why they were threatened by this young entrepreneur, aside from their fear that her beverage would be more popular than their overprices lemonade at the festival (you know they gauge you for lemons, water and shit-tons of sugar)…and it seemed to be.
That aside, Asa Baker was visited by the police, which in and of itself would scare even an adult. According to Asa, the officer was nice, but had to shut her down because she didn’t have a health permit to sell the lemon-stirred beverage.
She was doing some booming business (which was located in front of her father’s business), when law enforcement had to tell her to close up shop.
Though there is a bright side to all of this. Locals came out in droves to help Asa keep her stand open by paying for her food permit ($40), a shirt to promote her stand…and the officer gave her $20 when he had to close her down.
All I can say is only a person with a cold heart and shit for brains would want to shut down a kids lemonade stand. That person is a Karen.
