Cornhusker State Games Opening Ceremonies Friday In Lincoln

The kick-off to the 38th annual Cornhusker State Games will be held Friday night at Seacrest Field in Lincoln.  The Nebraska Sports Council says more than 10,000 athletes are registered and will participate in more than 70 sports.

 The evening begins with SportsFest from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Lincoln East High School.   The staging for the Parade of Athletes will take place from 7-8 p.m. between East High School and Seacrest Field and the Opening Ceremonies will follow at 8:00.

During the 90 minute ceremony there will be the Pledge of Athletes, a motocross exhibition and skydivers.  The mystery torch lighter will be revealed and the cauldron will be lit.  The evening will be capped off with fireworks.

Admission for SportFest and Opening Ceremonies is free to all registered athletes. Spectator admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 6-18 and free for kids 5 and Under.   More details can be found on their Cornhusker State Games  website
